New Opportunity! Volunteer and help others learn and improve their English!

Did you know that 1 in 10 adults is not functionally literate in English?

Did you know that these adults are 10 times more likely to live in poverty?

In 2013, the Literacy Council helped over 400 students from over 35 different countries with FREE literacy support. We provided one-on-one tutoring, held classes throughout the Seattle area, and assisted our students with everything from acquiring basic English skills to helping with career goals.

LCS empowers diverse low-income adult learners to be successful in their jobs, families, and community by teaching them essential English literacy skills through student-centered instruction.
